Family of tragic Megan O’Connor who died in a freak bottle accident said they were “overwhelmed” by people’s donations. A fundraiser set up to help the family with the costs of a funeral has raised around €2, 500. 18-year-old Megan died tragically when she slipped and fell on a vodka bottle which was in her waistband which caused a fatal cut to her artery. Ashley Byrne, 31, who set up the online fundraiser, said it’s “hard to accept what happened to Megan”. She told the Irish Independent: “Funerals cost thousands these days so I wanted to help with that, I thought even people could only give €2 or €3 it would all add up but so far it's raised around €2, 500 so far, which I really wasn't expecting.
