A "skydiving God" died following a freak accident at a Bridlington airfield when his parachute folded in a "dust devil", an inquest heard. Darren Glover, 52, had embarked on a 10, 000ft recreational jump with five others at 10.20am on May 27 this year. It had been a simple jump for his skill set which he had completed thousands of times before - but tragedy struck less than two minutes later after Darren hit the ground at around 50mph. Hull Coroner's Court heard eye-witnesses at Skydive GB said Darren had "shouted something" before his 71 square foot parachute "behaved erratically" and catapulted him along the drop zone as he tried to correct it. Hull Coroners Court (Image: Simon Renilson) Experts say the rising warm air from the crops at either side of the runway had created an air vortex, or "dust devil", which had caught the right side of his chute at about 30ft above the ground and folded it in on itself. Flight Instructor Sara Orton said the "internationally recognised" skydiver had successfully executed his larger, more experienced chute before getting into difficulties while attempting to correct it - and was unable to rectify it.
