Shower accident sidelines Cy Young winner Blake Snell with broken toe –

United States
Reigning American League Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell will miss his next start after breaking a toe while getting out of the shower.  The Tampa Bay Rays put their ace left-hander on the injured list Tuesday but are hopeful he'll be able to rejoin the rotation for a start on April 24. Snell said he was attempting to move a decorative stand in his bathroom and didn't realize that a piece of granite on the stand wasn't firmly attached.  “It’s like a three-piece set and this pole that comes up like 2 1/2, 3 feet, " he told reporters. "Went to move it, I lifted it up and it wasn’t glued to the pole and the pole came crushing down.” This is not the face Blake Snell made when he dropped a slab of granite on his toe, but it could be remarkably similar. (Photo: Kim Klement, USA TODAY Sports) PADRES: Phenom Fernando Tatis Jr. has baseball awestruck CUBS: MLB investigating racist messages sent to Carl Edwards Jr. The piece of granite fell on his right foot and broke his fourth toe.  Snell, 26, is 2-1 with a 2.16 ERA in four starts this season.
